Why the Toyota Sienta Is Such a Popular Family MPV
The Sienta is easy to live with. It is shorter than a Corolla, so it is easy to park and manoeuvre around town, yet it can carry six people and has power sliding doors on both sides. For many Auckland families it is the perfect small MPV for school runs, weekend trips and everything in between.
The Problem: Many Sientas Come With Only One Key
A lot of Sientas – especially Japanese imports – are sold with only one key. Everything works fine until that key is lost, damaged or goes through the wash. With no spare, the job becomes an “all keys lost” job, which takes longer and costs a lot more than simply adding a second key while you still have a working one.
What the New Toyota MPV Smart Key Does
The new key is matched to the car’s immobiliser and smart entry system, so it works just like the original:
- Lock and unlock buttons
- Left and right power sliding door buttons – the same remote functions as the original Sienta key
- Smart entry – keep the key in your pocket or bag and touch the door handle to unlock or lock
- All the other smart key functions of the original key
And because we added a key rather than replacing the old one, the owner’s original Sienta key keeps working too – two keys, one for each driver.
Don’t Wait Until All Your Keys Are Lost
If your Toyota has only one key, the cheapest time to get a spare is now. Once every key is gone, the car has to be unlocked and a new key programmed from scratch – more time, more work and a bigger bill.
